House Sparrows will eat it, as there is nothing else besides nyjer, suet, and peanuts, but they don't seem to like it as much as the finches do. I have never tried safflower seed. Hope this helps a bit! WebIt doesn't stop all house sparrow, but cut the use of it down by 80% or so. The cardinals, chickadees, and red wing black birds are not bothered by it. Before the hook, a stream of house sparrow would blanket the feeder, now it's down to a few that feed from the feeder.
